Muskelkater (german) – sore muscles, muscle ache
– literal translation: Muskel – muscle, Kater – tomcat, male cat
Did you know that the arches of your foot can get sore from working out? I didn’t know. Until yesterday.
In a previous post I mentioned that I’m not a fan of the gym. I despise running. That’s why I love my pole dancing classes. You work out and it’s fun. I also mentioned that I did MMA for a while. I always enjoyed it. I haven’t done it in a while.
The other day I was driving through town when I noticed a Muay Thai studio. Muay Thai is a stand-up striking combat sport. I was immediately intrigued. After emailing them and asking about special student rates (which they have, yay!) I decided to go to a class the other day.
Holy crap. It was a lot of fun. But I was exhausted for the rest of the day. The next morning I woke up to an aching body. Every. Single. Muscle. Of my body hurt. My back, my arms, my legs. And my arches!!! I have no idea how that happened, but it did.
I went back for another class today and I can already tell I will be sore tomorrow. I am sore right now. But I really enjoy the class. Although this morning there were a few moms there who kept talking and talking throughout the warm up and they were getting on my nerves a bit. I guess I just have to learn how to tune them out and focus on myself.
I am planning to go back twice a week. I hope it will make me stronger for pole and in general.
I bought some fun boxing gloves (pink!) and already took away some fun bruising from the first class. I bruise easily (pole dancing will give you some nice bruises) so I wasn’t too surprised about these beauties.
What do you do to stay fit? And have you ever had sore muscles in funny places?
